3-hour Intro to Hand-Building
Curious about clay but can't commit to a multi-week class yet? This one-day introductory class is another great place to start. Included are 3 hours of instruction in the form of discussion, hands-on demonstration, and lots of guided time to try your hand at shaping clay, all in a small group of no more than 5 students. No prior experience with clay is necessary.
You'll see several different hand-building techniques demonstrated, learn about the material properties of clay and glaze, be toured around the kiln and the firing process, and leave with a new understanding of the many-step making process.
The fee includes all required tools and materials, a drink + snack, and the firing of your favorite piece. Graduates of this introductory class who are keen to continue hand-building will receive 10% off registration in a future 4-week beginner class.
Classes are taught by Shelby Charlesworth, who has many years of experience as a sculptor and teacher. In the case of illness or other unforeseen circumstances, you may have a last-minute substitute.
