This flexible class is designed for students wanting a more customized, guided development of their skill and knowledge of ceramic materials and processes. The class includes a total of 12 hours of side-by-side instruction, which can be scheduled according to our mutual weekday, daytime availability over the course of one calendar month. After your purchase, you'll receive an email to discuss what you'd like the focus(es) of the lesson to be and when during the month you want classes to take place. If your availability is limited, feel free to reach out prior to purchase to discuss scheduling.

The fee includes all required tools and materials, and the finishing and firing of two pots of your choosing. If you make more than two pots for keeping, a small additional fee can be paid in-person at the end of your lesson.

Cancellation Policy

Individual lessons can be rescheduled within the calendar month without penalty up to one hour before the scheduled start time.

If a cancellation of the class as a whole is made, store credit will be issued for the full value of the class. The credit can be spent on either classes or pots and will not expire. Refunds are not available.

INSTRUCTORS

Kate Husted

Kate is a big fan of the details and loves getting lost in precision work. When teaching, she works to find just the right words to convey the subtleties of timing and movement that wheel-throwing requires, and gets a thrill from seeing her students' eyes widen with sudden understanding. She began practicing wheel-throwing in 2009, and teaching in 2019.

Anna-Lise Schmidt

Anna-Lise is drawn to clay as a medium because of its multifaceted process, from designing and testing to the physical preparation and forming. Her work explores mark making, repetition and pattern, and the way it interacts with form. She graduated from Emily Carr University with a Bachelor of Arts in 2013, and has been teaching in studios across Calgary ever since.
